When you reach into your closet, there should be something there that reflects who you are, how you feel, and what you value most. There should be something that you can put on in the morning and confidently wear all day long. Something you can throw in your bag and know will work for whatever your journey brings.

This is the directive given by our very own tough mother, Chairman Gert Boyle. It’s the reason we’re constantly testing our products against every type of terrible, no good, day-ruining condition the skies of the mighty Pacific Northwest can dish out. Sure, it makes life hell for us, but it means great gear for you. So when she finally does use her famous stamp of approval, you know you’re duly equipped to stay outside long after the featherweights have retreated indoors.

Life is Good

We see it when we believe it. Each one of us has a choice: to focus our energy on obstacles or opportunities. To fixate on our problems, or focus on solutions. We can harp on what’s wrong with the world (see most news media), or we can cultivate what’s right with the world. What we focus on grows.
That’s why the Life is Good community shares one simple, unifying mission: to spread the power of optimism.

At Outdoor Research®, we built a company from a feeling: the urge to get out. It’s what drives us. We love coming to work every day and inventing ever better solutions to what nature throws our way. But we’re more than just the gear we build. We’re part of a community of friends whose lives are connected by our common need to be outside. Our tribe is devoted to exploring our outdoor passions and challenging ourselves in the mountains, water and deserts of the planet we love so much.

The Tasc founders were tired of plastic being a necessary material in active clothing, so they did something about it. They made bamboo material that has a 4-way stretch, is wicking, breathable, UPF 50+ and super soft. Their clothing has no chemical finishes giving it a natural feel. Tasc creates high quality performance wear to keep you comfortable throughout all activities.

Sherpa Adventure Gear

The Sherpa people hail from the high valleys of the Himalayas, but the traits Sherpas are found far beyond the borders of Nepal. As Sherpas:
We believe in keeping a joyful heart. We strive to be as warm, welcoming and gracious to strangers as we are to our friends.
We believe that loyalty and integrity say much more about a person than his pocketbook.
We believe in a strong sense of community, whether we are guiding a team up a mountain, or helping our neighbors at home.
We believe in leaving the earth a better place than when we arrived.
We believe in passing down the wisdom and traditions of our elders.
We believe it is possible to be humble and reserved, while still displaying confidence and skill.
We believe our quiet strength and determined resilience will take us far beyond the summit.
Regardless of where you call home, we hope you too are proud to join us in saying, “We Are Sherpa.”

It all began on a surf trip to San Pancho, Mexico for two friends, Jennifer Hinton and Thayer Sylvester.

As we lounged in a hammock waiting for the waves to roll back in, we lamented how hard it was to find boardshorts that could keep up with us – real women with real bodies and a real passion for adventure. And just like that, Carve Designs was born. Carve Designs styles represent our spirit: fun-loving, hardworking, confident, and inclined to get where we want to go.

Howler Brothers

Howler founders Chase Heard and Andy Stepanian spent their adolescent summers haunting the waters and fish of Florida and Virginia and riding the ripples those states call waves. Both Heard and Stepanian now live in Texas where they raise families, work hard, make music together, chase fish with fly rods and make runs to the nearest coast or river when the opportunity arises.

Their vision for Howler – and the name Howler Brothers – was inspired by a sound they each heard on surf trips to Costa Rica: the call of the loudest animal in North America, the Howler Monkey. If you’ve heard it, you know how loud and startling the sound can be. But, after hearing it a few times, the sound becomes a part of the collective feeling of being in Central America and serves as a constant reminder that you’re in a good place, doing something you love.

Our formula for living and working is simple — build fun into everything you do. So that’s where we start. KAVU creates true outdoor wear, stylish bags, wallets, and other accessories so you can express yourself and spread your good-time attitude.

KAVU is also an aviation acronym for “clear above visibility unlimited,” when there isn’t a cloud in the sky and you can see to the horizon. That limitless feeling is our guiding philosophy and the attitude we bring to all we do. It means treating every day like it’s special, and then getting out and doing whatever invigorates you and makes you smile. That’s a KAVU Day. And we want you to have as many as you can. KAVU clothing is an expression of this approach to life.

We believe the products that get us exploring can make a positive impact in other people’s lives. That’s why we create sustainably designed outdoor gear that fuels both adventure and global change, by dedicating a percentage of our revenues to nonprofits working to improve the human condition.

We’re optimistic about the future, and we believe we can help solve extreme poverty in our lifetimes. We will continue to face challenges, but we promise to be open about our efforts, and we hope you’ll join us in our mission to do business in a better way. Most of all, we hope you’ll make every effort to explore the world, and to leave it a little better than you found it. Gear for Good.
